Welcome to Rupezo. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. Because we are an offline-first expense tracker, your privacy is literally built into the core design of our app.

1. The Core Principle: Your Data Stays on Your Phone

Rupezo is designed to ensure that you have complete ownership and control over your financial data.

  • We do NOT collect, transmit, or store your financial transactions, account balances, or receipts on our servers.
  • All financial data you enter into the App is stored locally on your device using an internal database.
  • Because of this, if you uninstall the app or clear the app's data from your phone's settings, all of your financial records will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered by us.

2. Information We Actually Collect

The only personal information we collect and transmit over the internet is what is strictly necessary to create and secure your user account:

  • Account Credentials: When you register for Rupezo, we collect your email address and a securely hashed version of your password.

3. How We Process Your Account Data

  • Authentication Only: Your email and login credentials are used exclusively to authenticate you and secure your account.
  • Third-Party Services: We use Supabase, a secure and privacy-compliant backend service, strictly to handle the login and sign-up process. Supabase stores your email address so you can securely log in.

4. What We Do NOT Collect

To be completely clear, Rupezo never uploads the following information to our servers:

  • Your income, expenses, or transfer amounts.
  • Your custom categories or account names.
  • The names of merchants you have paid.
  • Images or PDFs of receipts that you scan or share with the app.

All of the above information lives solely on the physical hardware of your mobile device.

5. Will Your Information Be Shared With Anyone?

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone.
  • Because we do not have access to your financial data, it is mathematically impossible for us to share your financial habits, transaction history, or receipt data with advertisers, third parties, or anyone else.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Rupezo respects your rights under global privacy laws, including the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023. You have the right to:

  • The right to erasure: You have the right to request that we erase your account data (your email). You can do this by requesting account deletion, at which point your login credentials will be wiped from Supabase.
  • The right to data ownership: Because your financial data is stored locally, you have ultimate control over it. You can erase it immediately at any time simply by uninstalling the Rupezo app.

7. Security of Your Information

We use industry-standard security measures (including TLS encryption) to protect the transmission of your email and login credentials between your device and our authentication servers. While we take every precaution to secure the authentication process, no system is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your device physically secure, as anyone with access to your unlocked phone could view your locally-stored Rupezo data.

8. Updates to This Notice

We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Effective Date" and will be effective as soon as it is accessible.
